Since late 2017, I've been dealing with a spinal cord injury. This was the biggest and most unexpected change of life which I could not have imagined.
Without an accident, or trauma, without doing anything risky or daring, my injury simply began as pain in my right shoulder and numbness in my right hand.
The doctors told me I have congenital spinal stenosis. Congenital means I was born with it. Spinal means the cervical spine in my case, and stenosis means narrowing. The narrowing refers to the space between the spinal disks. My disks were being compressed.
After two surgeries the pain has not improved. In fact, they have given me osteoarthritis, which they cannot treat.
The doctors say further surgery won't help. I must learn to deal with pain for the rest of my life.
So, with plenty of time on my hands and wonderful inspiration from God, mixed with hours each day praying, contemplating and discerning everything about my new life, I've been writing.
